Dowon Kim is a jazz violinist, composer, and producer whose work moves across genres, drawing jazz improvisation together with elements of rock, funk, film music, dance music, and the classical tradition.

As a composer and producer, Dowon is less concerned with belonging to a single genre than with finding the sound that sits between them. He treats the studio as an instrument, using production as a space where improvisation, composition, and texture meet.

Based in Linz, Austria, he studies at the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität, focusing on jazz violin, improvisation, composition, production, and studio technique. He currently performs with the Landestheater Salzburg, works as a session violinist for a range of artists and as a recording, mixing, and mastering engineer for a jazz band, and composes music for film.
