Improvisation, composition,
and the craft of sound.

Dowon Kim is a jazz violinist, composer, and producer whose work moves across genres, drawing jazz improvisation together with elements of rock, funk, film music, dance music, and the classical tradition.
As a composer and producer, Dowon is less concerned with belonging to a single genre than with finding the sound that sits between them. He treats the studio as an instrument, using production as a space where improvisation, composition, and texture meet.
Based in Linz, Austria, he studies at the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität, focusing on jazz violin, improvisation, composition, production, and studio technique. He co-leads TWIIIINS with Linus Shastri, works as a session violinist for a range of artists and as a recording, mixing, and mastering engineer for a jazz band, and composes music for film.
